Strategy execution: turn priorities into commitments.

Connect outcomes, accountability, capacity and reviews so strategic work can progress alongside daily operations.

Decide what will make room.

A sound strategy can stall when the same people are expected to absorb more work without changing existing commitments. Ask which activities will be reduced, postponed or stopped to create capacity for the new priority.

List current initiatives, their intended business contribution, required capacity and dependencies. Use consistent criteria to decide the order. There is no universal correct number of projects; the commitments must fit the resources actually available.

Describe a result that can be checked.

‘Improve collaboration’ states an intention. An executable assignment describes what will exist, who is accountable, who accepts the outcome and when it must be ready. Make decision rights and external dependencies explicit.

Illustrative example: agree the required information and acceptance criteria for sales-to-operations handovers in one product line, then test them on five handovers. Whether this improves performance must be measured afterwards.

Make reviews produce decisions.

Read status information before the meeting where practical. Use the discussion to address deviations, decide on obstacles and agree the next deliverable. Ask: what was promised, what is available, what threatens the objective and what decision is needed now?

Track delivery separately from business impact. Completing a process redesign does not prove that lead time has improved. Agree starting values and target measures, and consider other changes that might influence the result.
